Best European cities for art lovers and museum hopping

I am planning a two-week cultural trip to Europe next spring and want to focus entirely on world-class art galleries and historical museums. I've already been to Paris and London, but I'm looking for recommendations on other cities that offer an incredible density of masterpieces without being too overwhelming to navigate. Which European cities would you rank as the absolute best for a dedicated museum-hopping itinerary?

Florence is an absolute must for your list. Since you want high density without the massive sprawl of London or Paris, Florence packs the Uffizi, Accademia, and Palazzo Pitti all within a very walkable historic center. You can easily build a solid portion of your 14-day Western Europe itinerary around Tuscany if you want to focus heavily on Renaissance masterpieces.

Vienna should definitely be high on your radar. The Kunsthistorisches Museum is breathtaking both for its collection and its architecture, and the Belvedere houses Klimt's 'The Kiss'. Plus, it's super easy to navigate using their U-Bahn or just walking the Ringstrasse.

Don't overlook Madrid! The Golden Triangle of Art includes the Prado, the Reina Sofía, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza, all sitting practically next to each other. You can see Goya, Velázquez, and Picasso without wasting half your day on transit.

Amsterdam is incredible for art lovers. The Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum alone are worth the trip, and the city's canal ring makes getting between museums an absolute pleasure in the spring weather.
